Interview: Kicking it with Get Cubs

vrijdag 7 september 2012 | 00:12 | Link

A little while ago we had the chance to interview the fantastic blokes of Get Cubs. A nice British Indie/Rock band. They are working on releasing a brand spankin' new album (release date set on 15/11/2012) that's going to blow our minds. So before they take the world by storm it was nice to have a little chat with them. We asked them a few questions some of which serious, some close to insane. So sit tight, grab some snacks and read ahead. Oh and listen to their tunes to get in the mood!

And now, time for something completely different: Electronic Balkan sounds! Today we bring you 'Shaza La Kazoo'. A band from Belgrade, Serbia (Europe). I saw them at a live performance and they really created a party.  They make Balkan music with a club/dance twist to it, some would call it Balkan Beats, we just call it awesome. Anyhow

Here's a little example of the Balkan Sounds they bring to the table:

And because we know you want more, here's a complete liveset:

Enjoy the music & the weekend!

Daughter will bring us Smother

woensdag 29 augustus 2012 | 16:04 | Link

Lately we have been posting more acoustic music, and today we have another beautiful addition to the pack. This time we are blessed by the sounds of London based Daughter. This pack of three musketeers Igor Haefeli (guitar), Remi Aguilella (drums) and Elena Tonra is being kept together by the latter who does so with her touching voice. It all sounds very fragile and dreamy. It's a little bit like the XX only without the vibrant electo sounds.

Anyway, they have already released two EP's, their first was a demo that quickly got a lot of attention and their second EP 'The Wild Youth' told us they were here to stay. You can listen to it for free over at their bandcamp page (or after the break). Now they are working on new materials, first of which is set to be released the first of October. In the meantime they are touring around and they will perform at the 'Into The Great Wide Open Festival' in September and later at the 'Crossing Border Festival' in the Hague in november. They might play more concerts in the Netherlands so keep your eyes set to our concertagenda. Be sure to check them out!

Forget about Mars, we've got Astronauts, etc.

woensdag 22 augustus 2012 | 22:10 | Link

One band we are great fans of is the band Foals. Their track Spanish Sahara really got to us. Finding a guy that sounds somewhat similar to Foals (but also a fair bit like Bon Iver) and gives us the goose bumps got us excited. He goes by the name of "Astronauts, Etc." but his real name is Anthony Ferraro and he's from Berkeley, USA.

Currently he's working on an EP that is set to be released on September 8th and will be titled "Supermelodic Pulp". His music will be accompanied with sci-fi video, but what else can you expect from Astronauts, etc.?! The first track that has been released is called "Mystery Colors". So sit back, relax and press play to hear it.
